5 Podcasts for your Next Long Distance Road Trip

Entertainment posts, whether that be books, movies, podcasts, audiobooks, and everything enjoyable of the sort, are some of my favorites to share.

This week, inspired by my own recent road trip, I’m sharing 5 podcasts that are sure to keep you entertained for hours while on open road.

1. Scream!

Embrace your inner Scream Queen (or King!) with hosts Ash and Alaina (Morbid) and Caleb (Horror Soup). Every episode features a new movie, which the hosts detail and discuss. Their commentary and banter back and forth are hilarious, and their occasional disputable opinions make for a lively car ride.

Perfect for anyone who loves horror movies and laughs.

2. Huberman Lab

Road trip or not, I’m really into the Huberman Lab podcast right now. This listen makes for a great road trip companion because each episode is lengthy. Packed with information, this podcast inspires beyond the surface-level lifestyle inspo representation. Instead, Dr. Huberman dives into evidence-based habits that can improve our lives and health.

This listen is ideal for anyone interested in health, wellness, and humanistic social science.

3. Ologies

My fellow nerdies, this one is for you!

Ologies (named one of Time Magazine’s top 50 podcasts) is entirely dedicated to science, sometimes strange and sometimes quirky. Episodes include but are not limited to Chickenology, Vamirology, Selachimorchology, Ursinology, Phallology, Foraging Ecology, and exceedingly more.

For anyone wanting to learn about the study of… well, just about everything.

4. Morbid: A True Crime Podcast

My true-crime people tired of the overly scripted podcast that shall remain nameless, this one is for you.

Morbid has been my go-to true crime podcast for the past 3-years. Next to Bailey Sarian (who has appeared on the show), Ash and Alaina are the best at delivering true-crime stories with compassion and humor (when appropriate). They are not afraid to tell it like it is, calling murderous monsters f*ck heads or c*nts, among other far more creative names. Their no-nonsense detailing and unique case focus (often covering “old-timey” cases) is what I love about the show and what I think you’ll love too.

This podcast is perfect for true-crime enthusiasts.

5. The Light Podcast with Michelle Obama

Politics aside, I love the Obamas and Michelle Obama, perhaps most of all. She is a positive light in this world; her podcast, with a fitting title, represents this.

The Light Podcast is a stand-alone follow-up to her book The Light We Carry, released November 2022. The podcast is a collection of discussions with friends, including Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres, on various topics that relate to us all. With compassion and insight, former First Lady Michelle Obama and guests share personal stories and life lessons.

For anyone who loves worthwhile and positive conversation.

Closing Connection
