Harry Potter Snack Board (Sweet & Savory) + Free Printable

This post isn’t our first Harry Potter exploration into the Wizarding world. I don’t need to tell you how much I love the Harry Potter films; how when I was a child, like so many others, I’d wait in line for the midnight showings. When the films were over, I wouldn’t stop babbling for weeks about how amazing they were. Even now, as an adult, when I watch the movies, I feel that ting of magic, the pull into a world enchanted.

They are timeless and fun, and every year around this time, I enjoy embracing the witch and wizard world a little more.

If you’ve visited the blog before, you may have seen my Harry Potter Christmas tree or tried one of my Harry Potter-inspired mocktails. If you haven’t already, you definitely should.

During lockdown (2020), Greg, my sister, and I turned our living room into a giant blanket fort and made a snack spread with Albus Sherbert lemons (lemon heads) and Golden Snitches (cake pops). We watched all the movies (Chandler had yet to see them). It was a lot of fun.

I wanted to recreate this on a smaller scale, blending savory and sweet options perfect for a cozy Harry Potter movie day. Because you can’t have a proper movie watching experience without food.

  1. Cut each date in half and gently smash to flatten them.
  2. Place a small amount of almond butter in the middle of each flattened date.
  3. Add a small sliver of chocolate on top of the almond butter and sandwich between both pieces of date.
  4. Break pretzel sticks into small pieces. Insert pretzel pieces on each side of the date, arranging them to resemble spider legs. (didn’t have enough room for all eight legs)
  5. Your stuffed date spiders are ready to be enjoyed!

  2. Add finely diced onions, minced garlic, potatoes, and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add the Impossible beef and dried thyme, rosemary, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and nutritional yeast. Cook, breaking up the meatless beef, until it begins to brown.
  4. Add the frozen vegetables to the mixture and pour in the coconut milk. Stir well to combine.
  5. Cover the skillet and let the dip simmer for about ten minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Ensure the potatoes are cooked through, and the flavors have melded.
